The Guru’s temporary losing streak is but a distant memory, as he hit on three of four college football picks to run the seasonal total to a + 310. South Carolina, Oregon and Boise State turned a hefty $190 profit for the Onlinegambling.co.uk. Sports Guru, who will be studying in earnest over the next month in an effort to duplicate his performance in prognosticating last year’s College Bowl slate.
On the professional front, the Guru struggled, as have most of the oddsmakers and prognosticators this year. The Guru went 1-2, with one game (Indianapolis-New Orleans) upcoming, dropping our balance for the season to even.
Here are our college picks for the Thanksgiving weekend of November 28th. Each of these games represents a $100 online sports betting wager.
· Louisville (+12) over Rutgers – This is your prototypical look-past game. Rutgers has designs on a major bowl game, but Louisville throws them a major scare. Look for Rutgers to squeak by 30-27 in overtime.
· Boise State (-10) over Nevada – This is Boise State’s year to make a mark in the College Bowl world. They will romp at home by a score of 44-17.
· West Virginia (+6 ½) over Pittsburgh – Not so fast, Pitt! With visions of sugar plums and a Big East title dancing in their heads, the Mountaineers play “Scrooge” to their neighbours, and will upset Pitt outright, 28-24.
· Stanford (-6) over Notre Dame – You can hear the serenade at South Bend already beginning – “Goodbye, Charlie (Weis), we hate to see you go.” The Cardinal dashes all hopes of Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis returning to the sidelines next year by defeating the Irish 35-21.
· Cincy (-5) over Illinois – The Bearcats win the Big East title and turn back Illinois in a hard-fought 21-14 victory.
Here are our pro picks for week # 12, ending November 29th. The online sports betting wagers are $100 each, and the three team parlay is a $100 wager.
Thanksgiving Day
· Detroit (+13) over Green Bay – The psyche of the Packers is too fragile to trust them to cover a large spread on the road. Take the home team and the points as the Pack will fail to cover with a 27-21 win over the hapless Lions.
· Dallas (-14) over Oakland - This is a traditional whooping, 34-3.
· New York Giants (-1) over Denver - This is a tough contest to predict. We feel, however, that Eli Manning will win the Giants to a 24-21 win over the fading Broncos.
Sunday, November 29th
· Jets (E) over Carolina – Carolina stumbles on its way to a wild card playoff berth. The Jets finally play to its potential with a 24-0 whitewash of the Panthers.
· Atlanta (-8 ½) over Tampa Bay - The Falcons take out their recent frustrations on the pitiful Bucs, and trounce them 44-14 in the Georgia Dome.
· Tennessee (+3) over Arizona – Titan Q.B. Vince Young has Tennessee on a roll, and they upset the Cardinals at home by a score of 34-31.
For good measure, we have Philadelphia (-9) over Washington, Baltimore (E) over the fading Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Francisco (E) over Jacksonville. Our three team parlay for the weekend includes Dallas, Atlanta and San Francisco.
The Guru next week will review the upcoming NCAA College Basketball season, including which teams to keep an eye on for the March Madness title in 2010.
