The 2010 National Football League opens its new season on Thursday, September 9th. There is no clear-cut favourite this year to capture the Super Bowl in February, 2011. This should produce a healthy sports gambling year on NFL games and futures bets. The most popular online sports betting parlours list the following teams as favourites:
- Indianapolis Colts – 7-1
- New Orleans Saints – 8-1
- Dallas Cowboys – 9-1
- San Diego Chargers – 10-1
- New York Jets – 10-1
- New England Patriots – 12-1
- Green Bay Packers – 12-1
- Pittsburgh Steelers – 18-1
Here are the breakdowns of each division and the ultimate playoff picture, as depicted by the most successful sports gambling football prognosticator on the World Wide Web, the Sports Guru of OnlineGambling.co.uk.
AFC
East
The New York Jets and the New England Patriots don’t like each other, and they will battle to the final week of the season for first place. The Jets and their sports betting backers will win out, and the Patriots will go home for the second consecutive year, marking the end of their dynasty and the Bill Bellicheck era.
North
Quarterback Joe Flacco will establish himself as one of the league’s premier QBs, and will lead the Baltimore Ravens to an 11-5 record and the crown. The Pittsburgh Steelers will falter badly in the first four games without suspended QB Ben Roethlisberger, and will stagger to a .500 record and no spot in the playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals will earn a wild card spot with a 9-7 record, to the surprise of many online sports betting investors.
South
The online sports betting experts have established the Indianapolis Colts as the favourites for the Super Bowl title. But we are not as supportive as some others. The Colts will win more games than any other team in the AFC this year, but will be stymied early in the playoffs. The surprise team in the NFL will be the Houston Texans, who will finish a strong 10-6 and earn a wild card position in the playoffs.
West
San Diego Chargers will win a watered down conference with little opposition, although the Oakland Raiders will be greatly improved. There will be no online gambling shock in this division.

NFC
East
Once again, the “Black and Blue” Division will produce some of the most exciting football in the league. The Cowboys will emerge as the champion, and the NY Giants will rebound and capture a wild card berth in the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles will miss QB Donovan McNabb, while the Washington Redskins will be much improved under first year coach, Mike Shanahan, but will still be a year away from contending for a playoff position.
North
While the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions will improve their records, the Minnesota Vikings will regret signing Brett Favre for another season. This is the year that Favre will break down and the Vikings will stumble to a .500 season. This leaves the Green Bay Packers to gallop to the title, and Aaron Rodgers, the QB who replaced Favre at Green Bay, to capture the league’s MVP award. Favre will watch the playoffs from his home in Mississippi.
South
The Carolina Panthers will feature a brutal running game, and will outdistance defending Super Bowl Champs, the New Orleans Saints, for the title. The Saints will garner a wild card spot in the playoffs.
West
The San Francisco 49ers will rise to the top of the West and will win the division with ease. The Arizona Cardinals will miss the services of retired QB, Kurt Warner, while the Seattle Seahawks will show improvement but not enough to win a playoff position.
