The eyes of the tennis world will be focused on Flushing Meadows, New York, as the cream of the tennis crop competes in the prestigious U.S. Open.  It is a two-week tourney that has featured some of the greatest tennis matches the tennis world has ever witnessed – Borg/McEnroe in the early 80’s or the Serena Williams/Martina Hingis match in 1998 that changed the face of women’s tennis forever.

Who could ever forget the 1991 U.S. Open when Jimmy Connors turned back the hands of time?  Connors, tennis great from the 1970’s, was way past his prime.  However, for two memorable weeks, he played amazing tennis by turning back Patrick McEnroe and Aaron Krickstein and advanced to the semi-finals.

The big question facing sports betting investors this year is which Williams sister will capture the distaff championship.  Both Serena and Venus are at the top of their games, and their sibling rivalry, while friendly, seems to bring out the best in them.  Serena changed the face of tennis 10 years ago when she defeated top-ranked Martina Hingis to win her first Grand Slam Tennis Championship, and she was only 17 years old at the time.
