  • What you need to know

History of the Hippodrome

You knew the name sounded familiar. That’s because the Hippodrome Casino exists in the space that was formerly the legendary Hippodrome Theatre. The new vision for the building was launched in 2017 as the casino opened its door for the first time (we’ll get to the theatre shortly).

If we go back all the way to 1900 we find the building was originally home to an incredible circus. You’d find polar bears and sea lions on stage in a huge tank. The next evolution saw the stage turned over for performances from the likes of Harry Houdini.

In the 1950s it became a famous venue for touring musicians. There followed spells where the Hippodrome was a nightclub and more recently the venue for La Clique cabaret, until the idea to re-launch as a casino came about.

What table games can you play at the Hippodrome?

You’ll find all the major casino table games laid on at the Hippodrome. They have three floors and 45 tables set up for play at all times. Here are the table games available at the venue:

  • Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • 3-Card Poker
  • Dice
  • Pai Gow

What do they have in the way of electronics and slots?

The Hippodrome claims to offer “the very best in electronic gaming and the latest slots from around the world”. They have more than 100 slots and electronic machines to choose from, in a big variety of formats and themes.

In terms of progressive jackpot machines, the most popular you can play are the Mega Kong Progressive and Cash Fever Progressive games. Progressive jackpot wins can as high as £20,000 in a single spin, which is a pretty good return on a relatively small stake.

Promotions at the Hippodrome Casino

You’ll be impressed by the number and variety of different promotions offered. They are constantly changing and it’s important to check the promotions page on the Hippodrome’s website before playing there.

PokerStars LIVE at the Hippodrome

You know you’re a serious venue when you get a live poker event through the doors and that’s what happens at the Hippodrome with the UKIPT. In 2017 their Super Series event was hosted at the casino, with a £500 buy-in and the chance to win some cash against some of the best players in the world.

The great thing about this tournament is that it was possible to qualify online at PokerStars, or by playing at the Hippodrome’s very own online casino.

Hippodrome online gambling with real money

Hosted at Hippodromeonline.com you’ll find an online real money casino with over 450 games to offer. There’s a promotion running that gives you £10 free money to get started and a welcome bonus that’s worth as much as £1,000 to new players.

Dining and drinks at the Hippodrome Casino

The Hippodrome is a lot more than a casino venue. They have two impressive bars, the Heliot Cocktail Bar and the Heliot Lounge, along with the Heliot Steak Restaurant to keep you entertained while you’re away from the tables and slot machines.

A 24-hour menu means the meals can fit around your gambling, which is great news for those of us who tend to find ourselves leaving a blackjack table at 7am in the morning. The bars are a great way to unwind after the buzz of gambling, or equally to pump up for the high jinks ahead.

Hippodrome live theatre venue

It wouldn’t be the Hippodrome without a stage and the 180-seat Hippodrome Live venue is a great addition to the casino entertainment on offer. You’ll find everything from cabaret acts to huge stars of the music world performing in the venue. The most famous to date is a guy named Prince who you might just have heard of!

Hippodrome Live is also used to screen major sporting events, which will be a huge relief to those who come to gamble but couldn’t possibly miss their team in its biggest game ever. Don’t worry, you won’t miss a thing and the experience will be some way beyond what you’ll get in your living room.

Dress code at the Hippodrome

There is no dress code to follow at the Hippodrome. Just be comfortable is the message here, but they do ask that you “dress to impress”. What you wear is ultimately your personal choice, but you might enjoy dressing up to make the evening feel that little bit more special.

Minimum age requirement

All those wanting to play real money casino games must be aged 18 or over. You should always carry a valid photo ID card and be ready to show it to the door staff upon arrival.

Who regulates the Hippodrome London?

All UK casinos are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, a body that serves on behalf of the Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Hippodrome London is a fully regulated gambling venue and also carries a license to operate real money games online.
